How Much Does Gutter Cleaning Cost in Martinez & Contra Costa County?
What gutter cleaning typically costs for single- and two-story homes in Martinez, Concord, Walnut Creek and the East Bay, and what changes the price.
Gutter cleaning is one of the most common calls I get in Martinez and the surrounding East Bay towns, and one of the hardest to price from a search result. National averages are built on very different houses than the ones around here. This is what I see on actual jobs in Contra Costa County.

Typical Gutter Cleaning Prices Here
- Single-story home: about $100–$175
- Two-story home: about $175–$275
That covers hand-clearing the gutters, flushing the downspouts, and a quick check of brackets and standing water. It’s the same range I use in the handyman cost guide for Contra Costa County.
What Moves the Price Up or Down
Length of gutter. A small ranch in Pacheco and a long run on a Danville two-story are different jobs. More linear feet means more time on the ladder.
Stories and access. Two-story homes cost more because of ladder setup and safety. If the roof is steep, the side yard is tight, or the gutters can’t be reached safely from a ladder, I’ll tell you rather than take a risk.
How much is in there. Gutters cleaned every year are quick. Gutters that haven’t been touched in several seasons hold packed mud, seed pods and, in some yards, small plants growing in the debris.
Trees overhead. Oak, liquidambar, maple and pine drop a lot, and pine needles pack tightly into downspouts. Houses under big trees usually need a second cleaning in spring.
Downspouts. Most clear with a hose flush. A downspout that ties into an underground drain can be a separate problem, and a stubborn blockage may need a drain snake or a plumber.
What’s Not Part of a Gutter Cleaning
Cleaning and small repairs (tightening brackets, resealing a seam, adding a downspout extension) are handyman work. These are not:
- Replacing or installing seamless gutters
- Fascia board replacement
- Anything that means working on the roof
Those are jobs for a licensed gutter or roofing contractor, and they usually run past California’s $1,000 limit for unlicensed work. If I find damage like that while I’m up there, I’ll tell you and show you a photo rather than patch over it.
When to Book
