Cabinet Repair and Hardware Installation Cost in Martinez & Contra Costa County
What cabinet repairs cost in Martinez and the East Bay: sagging doors, broken hinges, drawer slides and new pulls, and when replacement makes more sense.
Cabinets are the most-used surfaces in a kitchen, and most of what goes wrong with them is small. A door that hangs crooked or a drawer that drags usually needs a hinge, a slide, or a screw hole repaired, not a new cabinet.
These are general ranges, not a quote. Hardware is extra unless I’m buying it for you.
Typical Prices
- Adjust or realign a cabinet door: about $25–$50 per door
- Replace a hinge or set of hinges: about $25–$50 per door
- Repair stripped screw holes: about $50–$100
- Replace a drawer slide: about $75–$150 per drawer
- Install knobs and pulls: about $5–$10 each, with a minimum visit
- Upgrade to soft-close hinges or slides: about $35–$75 per door, $100–$175 per drawer
A small kitchen refresh with new pulls on 30 doors and drawers usually fits well within a half-day visit.
What Changes the Price
Hardware spacing. Replacing pulls with the same hole spacing is quick. Changing spacing means filling the old holes and drilling new ones.
Hinge type. Standard overlay and inset hinges are easy to find. European concealed hinges come in several styles, and finding the right one can take a photo or a sample.
Cabinet condition. Solid wood and plywood hold screws. Water-swollen particleboard doesn’t, and the only real repair there is replacement.
Quantity. Doing everything in one visit costs less than several single repairs.
Repair or Replace?
Repair is almost always right for hinges, slides, pulls and loose joints. Replacement or refacing makes sense when the cabinet boxes are swollen from water or the whole kitchen needs updating. Refacing and new cabinet installation are bigger projects, and most go past California’s $1,000 limit for unlicensed handyman work.
Choosing Pulls
Measure center-to-center on an existing pull, not the length. Order one to test before buying 30. Pull placement should be consistent, and I use a template for it.
