Baseboard & Trim Carpentry in Martinez & Contra Costa County
Trim is what makes a room look finished, and it's also where damage shows: scuffed baseboards, gaps at the door casing, missing quarter-round after a flooring change. I install and repair baseboard, door and window casing, quarter-round and small crown runs, caulk and fill the nail holes, and leave everything ready for paint.
What's Included
- Baseboard installation and replacement
- Door and window casing repair and replacement
- Quarter-round and shoe molding
- Small crown molding runs
- Trim repair around water-damaged or chipped areas
- Nail hole filling and caulking
- Primed and paint-ready finish
- Matching existing trim profiles where possible
Why trim gets so many gaps
Walls aren't perfectly flat or square, so trim has to be scribed and caulked to hide it. Good caulking and a patient finish are what separate trim that looks professional from trim with visible gaps.
Choosing a material
Paint-grade MDF is cheaper and smooth, but it swells with moisture. Pine and finger-jointed pine hold nails and moisture better, and I'd use those in bathrooms and near entry doors.
Pricing
I price each job by the size of the work, access, and materials, and I quote before I start. Single-visit jobs like this stay well under California's $1,000 limit for unlicensed handyman work. Send a few photos and a short description for a quote.
When I'll Refer You to a Licensed Pro
Whole-house trim packages, built-ins, stair rebuilding, and structural carpentry usually go past California's $1,000 limit for unlicensed work, and some need permits. I'll tell you before I start if a trim job is turning into something bigger.
Bay Bilt is not a licensed contractor. Work is limited to jobs under $1,000 (labor and materials). Insured.
