Grab Bar & Home Safety Installation in Martinez & Contra Costa County
A grab bar is only as strong as what it's screwed into, and a bar mounted on tile with drywall anchors can pull out the first time someone leans on it. I install grab bars and handrails anchored into studs or blocking, add non-slip and lighting upgrades, and make small changes that help people stay in their homes safely.
What's Included
- Grab bar installation in showers, tubs and beside toilets
- Handrail installation on stairs and hallways
- Locating studs and adding blocking where possible
- Shower seat and fold-down bench installation
- Non-slip strips and mats
- Lever door handle swaps
- Night lights and brighter bulbs
- Doorway thresholds and small ramps
Why studs matter
Grab bars are meant to take sudden weight. Anchoring into studs or wood blocking behind the wall is what makes them safe, and finding the framing is the most important part of the job.
Small changes with big effects
Better lighting, lever handles instead of knobs, handrails on both sides of the stairs and a stable bench in the shower reduce falls. Many of these are one-visit jobs.
Pricing
I price each job by the size of the work, access, and materials, and I quote before I start. Single-visit jobs like this stay well under California's $1,000 limit for unlicensed handyman work. Send a few photos and a short description for a quote.
When I'll Refer You to a Licensed Pro
Bathroom remodels, walk-in tubs, stair lifts and wheelchair ramps that need permits or structural work are licensed contractor jobs. Grab bars installed into walls where there's no stud or blocking are not something I'll do on tile or fiberglass without a safe anchor.
Bay Bilt is not a licensed contractor. Work is limited to jobs under $1,000 (labor and materials). Insured.
