Often, but it depends on the transformer and wiring. If yours isn't compatible, a battery model is a simple fallback.

If it's a low-voltage thermostat on existing wiring with a compatible common wire, yes. Anything that isn't, such as line-voltage baseboard heat, is for an HVAC pro or an electrician.

Smart locks need the right bore and backset, doorbells need the right voltage, and thermostats need the right wiring. Send me the model and a photo of the existing hardware and I'll tell you before you buy, or I can pick it up for you.

Setup matters as much as installation

A lock that isn't aligned will jam, and a doorbell on a weak Wi-Fi signal will miss notifications. Testing from the router location, and checking the latch with the door closed, avoids most callbacks.

When I'll Refer You to a Licensed Pro

I don't run new wiring, work with line-voltage thermostats or HVAC equipment, or change the electrical panel. Rekeying locks and lock services are the work of licensed locksmiths in California, so I install and swap hardware but I don't rekey or pick locks.
